Florence County, South Carolina selects Cadastra for Parcel Data Conversion

Richmond, VA, April 1, 2004. Florence County selected Cadastra, Inc. to perform its conversion of approximately 75,000 parcels using a combined COGO and Best-fit mapping approach. The County consulted with Spatial Focus, Inc. to establish their cadastral mapping specification, and stipulated specific requirements for adherence to standards, spatial accuracy and project quality assurance. Spatial Focus was also contracted to manage the project and perform quality control reviews of the digital data; they may be contacted as the reference for this project.

Cadastra worked with Florence County to develop a custom geodatabase design that encompasses parcel maintenance and map production. Deed and plat sources were identified from the County's CAMA database; all sources were scanned from microfilm and aperture cards. In addition to the conversion, Cadastra provided two years of COGO updates. Cadastra worked closely with the County to establish tax map plotting templates and custom ArcGIS plotting tools that leveraged the data content of the digital layers while preserving the format required by the Tax Assessment office. Cadastra is providing on-site training in parcel maintenance to ensure the county will be able to properly update the data into the future.
